Trimester 2 · Baby is about a mango

A protective coating called vernix covers the skin, and the senses are developing quickly.

How your body may feel

  • Round-ligament pain when you move suddenly.
  • Skin changes such as darker patches on the face.
  • Hair may feel thicker.

Self-care this week

  • Use sunscreen to reduce pigmentation.
  • Change positions slowly.
  • Keep iron-rich meals regular.

Milestone

Anomaly scan window — a detailed check of baby's growth and organs.

Seek care urgently if you notice

  • Severe headache that will not clear, or blurred vision and flashing lights
  • Any vaginal bleeding, or fluid leaking from the vagina
  • Sudden swelling of the face, hands or feet
  • Burning or painful urination, or fever
  • Reduced or absent baby movement once a pattern is established
