Data Privacy Policy

Your information stays yours.

This page explains, in plain language, what Nestora Health collects, why, who can see it and how it is protected. It only describes what the app actually does today.

Last updated:

1. What Nestora Health is

Nestora Health is a digital maternal health support platform. It offers education, tracking tools, an AI companion, emergency guidance and a support circle for women before, during and after pregnancy, and for the people who support them.

  • Nestora is not a hospital, clinic or medical practice, and it does not replace your doctor, nurse or midwife.
  • Nothing in the app is a diagnosis. If you feel something is wrong, contact a healthcare professional or your nearest health facility right away.
  • The Nestora Companion is an AI assistant. It is clearly labelled as AI, and it is not a human clinician.

2. The information we may collect

We only hold information that you, or an authorised person acting on your behalf in a pilot, give us through the app. Depending on how you use Nestora, this may include:

  • Account information — your name, email address, password (stored in protected form, never visible to us) or Google sign-in details, and your chosen language and notification preferences.
  • Maternal health information you choose to provide — your stage of the journey (for example trying to conceive, pregnant, postpartum or supporting someone), your due date or baby's birth date, and other onboarding answers.
  • Health tracking information — symptoms, blood pressure, weight, mood check-ins, medications and notes that you log in Track.
  • Companion conversations — the questions you type or speak to the Nestora Companion and the answers you receive. Voice recordings are used only to create the text you confirm and are not kept.
  • Support circle and emergency contact details — names and phone numbers of the people you add so we can help you reach them.
  • Antenatal visit and pilot information — if you are enrolled in a Nestora pilot, your facility, cohort, consent status and antenatal visit records added by you or by pilot staff.
  • Engagement and activity data — which Nestora features you open or use, and when. This never includes what you wrote, logged or asked.
  • Clinical Network information — if you apply as a healthcare professional: your profession, credentials, licence details, organisation, the documents you upload and your public-profile choices.
  • Information needed to provide a requested service — for example your email when you join the waitlist, send us a message, accept an invitation, or ask us to email you a health summary.

3. Why we collect it

  • To personalise your experience — showing the right content for your stage of the journey and, if you allow it, letting the Companion refer to your own logs.
  • To help you track information that matters, such as blood pressure, weight, mood and medication, over time.
  • To prepare you for healthcare visits and to generate a health summary you can share with a professional when you choose to.
  • To send you the notifications and emails you have asked for, and to reach your support circle when you ask us to.
  • To keep the platform safe and working, including reviewing questions asked to the Companion so our reviewed guidance keeps improving.
  • To understand which features are useful so we can improve Nestora.
  • To support pilot monitoring and evaluation where you are enrolled in a pilot (see section 10).

4. How health information is handled

  • Your health logs belong to you. Nestora never changes or “corrects” the values you record.
  • The Companion uses reviewed English maternal-health content as its single source of truth. When you ask in Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo or Nigerian Pidgin, the answer is automatically translated and labelled as such.
  • Product analytics record only that a feature was used — never health values, free text or clinical details.
  • Health information is only shown to other people in the situations described in sections 5 and 7.

5. Who may access your information

Access is controlled by roles and permissions that are enforced in our database, not just on the screen:

  • You — you can see and manage your own records.
  • Nestora administrators — a small team with an admin role can view account, activity and pilot information to run the service, respond to you and keep it safe. Every administrative change is recorded in an audit log.
  • Clinical Network members — approved healthcare professionals see only the content review tasks assigned to them and their own profile. They do not see members' health records through the Clinical Network.
  • Pilot facility staff — an approved clinician linked to a participating facility can only work with pilot records for that facility, and only within their role. Facilities themselves do not have a login.
  • The public — only the Clinical Network profiles that a professional has explicitly consented to publish, and only the fields they approved.

6. We do not sell your information

Nestora Health does not sell, rent or trade your personal or health information to anyone. We do not use your health information for advertising.

7. When information may be shared

  • When you choose to share — for example when you use “Share My Health Summary” to send a summary by WhatsApp, email or PDF, invite someone to your support circle, or call or message a contact from the app.
  • To provide a service you asked for — we use an email delivery provider to send verification, invitation, notification and support emails, and an AI provider to process the questions you send to the Companion. These providers process information only to deliver that service.
  • Within a pilot — de-identified or role-restricted pilot records may be viewed by authorised pilot staff and Nestora administrators for monitoring and evaluation.
  • Where required by applicable law, or to protect the safety of you or others.

We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing.

8. How we protect your information

  • You sign in with a password you choose or with Google. Email verification is required, and password reset links expire.
  • Every record in our database is protected by access rules that check who you are before returning any data, so one member cannot read another member's information.
  • Information travels between your device and Nestora over secure (HTTPS) connections.
  • Uploaded Clinical Network and content-review documents are stored in private storage that is only reachable by the people who need them.
  • Administrative actions are logged so that changes can be traced.

No system can promise perfect security. If you ever suspect a problem with your account, contact us straight away using the details below.

9. How long we keep information

  • We keep your information for as long as your Nestora account is active so that your history, tracking and journey stay available to you.
  • We have not set a fixed automatic deletion period. If you would like your account and personal information deleted, contact us and we will remove it.
  • Some records may be kept where needed to keep the service secure, for example administrative audit logs, or where the law requires it.
  • Voice recordings are never kept — only the text you confirmed is stored as part of your conversation.

10. Your rights and choices

  • Access and update — you can view and edit your profile, journey stage, tracking entries, support circle and notification settings inside the app.
  • Communication choices — you can opt out of optional (non-essential) emails at any time. Essential account and safety messages will still reach you.
  • Companion personalisation — you can switch off the Companion's use of your own logs in its answers.
  • Deletion — ask us to delete your account and personal information, and we will do so.
  • Questions — you can contact us at any time about how your information is handled, or to ask for assistance.

11. Pilot participants

If you have been enrolled in a Nestora Health pilot by an administrator, a few extra points apply:

  • Your pilot record is linked to your normal Nestora account. You do not get a separate login or a duplicate profile, and you create your own password.
  • Pilot data — your engagement with the app, antenatal visit records and clinician feedback about the programme — may be used for monitoring, evaluation and improving Nestora.
  • Your consent status and cohort are recorded with your pilot record, and you may withdraw from the pilot by contacting us.
  • Only Nestora administrators and approved clinicians linked to your facility can see pilot records for your facility. Participants never see other participants' data.
  • Pilot dashboards show aggregated counts and trends alongside role-restricted records; they are not public.

12. Cookies, browser storage and analytics

  • Nestora does not use third-party advertising cookies or third-party analytics tools such as tracking pixels.
  • We use storage on your own device (browser storage) to keep you signed in across visits, remember choices such as “remember me” and dismissed tips, and speed up loading of your own data. You can clear this at any time from your browser settings, which will sign you out.
  • Our own activity records (section 2) note which Nestora features you use so we can improve the product. They contain no health values or free text.

13. Changes to this policy

If Nestora starts collecting new kinds of information or sharing it in new ways, we will update this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. We recommend checking back from time to time.

14. How to contact us
