Trimester 3 · Baby is about a honeydew melon

Lungs are nearly mature and the baby practises breathing rhythmically.

How your body may feel

  • Frequent urination as baby drops.
  • Sharp pelvic twinges.
  • Tiredness and impatience are common.

Self-care this week

  • Rest often and accept help.
  • Know your route and contact numbers for labour.
  • Report reduced movement immediately, day or night.

Milestone

Group B strep screening may be offered 35–37 weeks.

Seek care urgently if you notice

  • Reduced, absent or changed baby movement — call immediately, day or night
  • Severe headache, blurred vision or pain under the ribs
  • Waters breaking before 37 weeks, or green or bloody fluid
  • Vaginal bleeding of any amount
  • Regular painful contractions before 37 weeks
  • Difficulty breathing, chest pain, or a seizure — call emergency services
