Trimester 1 · Baby is about a pea pod

Vocal cords form and the baby starts producing urine into the amniotic fluid.

  • A small bump may show.
  • Fewer trips to the bathroom as the uterus lifts.
  • Increased appetite.

Self-care this week

  • Add a protein source to each meal.
  • Wear a supportive, comfortable bra.
  • Book your next antenatal visit.

End of the first trimester.

Seek care urgently if you notice

  • Heavy bleeding, or bleeding with clots
  • Severe pain on one side of the lower abdomen or shoulder tip pain
  • Fever above 38°C
  • Vomiting so much you cannot keep fluids down for 24 hours
  • Fainting or severe dizziness
